Weekly update (sales reports for May 5-11)...

Turnover in the top-25 was down one from the high of 12 last week, while stability stayed at 10. (Turnover is the number of titles forced out of the top-25, stablity is the number staying within five places of last week's position). Just as we saw last week, there was considerable change in the titles in the top-25, but relative stability for those that returned. Phil Robertson's Happy, Happy, Happy and Charlaine Harris' Dead Ever After debuted in the top two spots. Sheryl Sandberg's Lean In moved up one place to Nr. 3, while David Baldacci's The Hit was down two, but stayed in the top-5 at Nr. 5. Moving back into the top-5 after dropping to Nr. 10 last week was David Sedaris' Let's Explore Diabtetes with Owls at Nr. 4. There were 67 new ISBNs (16.7% of 402 editions), down from 19.6% last week and just above the 52-week median of 64.

In addition to Happy, Happy, Happy and Dead Ever After,six other titles debuted in the top-25: John Sandford's Silken Prey at Nr. 7; Jim Galligan's Dad is Fat* at Nr. 11; Rick Yancey's The 5th Wave*at Nr. 17; Mika Brzezinski's Obsessed at Nr. 18; Richard Paul Evans' A Step of Faith at Nr. 19; and John LeCarre's A Delicate Truth at Nr. 25. (* indicates a title by an author new to the lists).

Of the eleven titles that dropped from the top-25 since last week, only three had been in the top-5 and/or in the top-25 for five weeks or more: The Silver Linings Playbook was Nr. 13 after seven weeks), Daddy's Gone a Hunting (Nr. 15, 4 weeks, one in top-5), and The Witness (Nr. 24, 10 weeks).

Ten titles remained stable—moving less than five positions from last week—the same as last week and below the 52-week median of 12. Two titles moved up five or more places: David Sedaris' Let's Explore Diabetes with Owls, up six to Nr. 4; and John Sandford's Stolen Prey, up eight to Nr. 13. Another two titles were down five or more places from last week: Glenn Beck's Control, down six to Nr. 2; and Amanda Knox's Waiting to be Heard, down seven to Nr. 12.

The number of e-books has dropped from its recent high of 124 four weeks ago to 99 this week, dropping below the 52-week median of 103. Those appearing in e-book only were 28, down four from last week, but above the median of 22. Self-published works dropped from 14 (for the past three weeks) to 12, but above the median of 8. All were in e-book format.

With the return of The Best of Me to the top-25 (after a one-week absence), the number of titles in the top-25 for a total of 13 weeks or more was up one to four: Gone Girl (47 weeks), Proof of Heaven (29), The Best of Me (24), and Wild (22). None of the eleven titles dropping from the top-25 had more than ten weeks in the top-25.
